Zydeco Dance Steps / Shoulder Shake:

Lead: Shoulder Shake is done in the open position the lead letting the follows right hand go from his left hand on the 1st beat and turning his body 45 degrees CCW on the 1st and 2nd beat, on the 3rd beat he will change his weight to both his left and right foot while he moves up and down on the 3rd and 4th beat of music. Then slowly moves your weight back to his left foot by the end of the 4th count while slowly starting to turn CW 45 degrees and change your weight to your right foot for the 5th and 6th count and then do a rock step with your left foot on the 7th count and step forward a little with your right foot on the 8th count to finish the pattern. Many times you can do a few shoulder shakes in a row before going back to the basic step.

Follow: Shoulder Shake is done in the open position and although its not a "lead" move and you can do it anytime in the open position when your partner lets go of your hand with a hand toss, you can start this move when the lead lets go of your hand on the 1st beat turn your body CW 45 degrees during the 1st and 2nd beat of the music, on the 3rd beat change change your weight so it is distributed across both feet and on the 3rd and 4th count move your body up an down. By the end of the 4th count move your weight back to your right foot as you turn CCW and change your weight to your left right foot for the 5th and 6th count and then do a rock step with your right foot on the 7th count and step forward a little with your left foot on the 8th count to finish the pattern. Many times you can do a few shoulder shakes in a row before going back to the basic step.
