Three Perfect Days in Acadiana:Myself and Bunny are planning on heading to Louisiana in November and while trying to put together a travel plan I was given this article at the link below which was very good. If you plan on going there are several other places that you need to visit as well during a C/Z dance and exploration trip but the article was good so here is a link to it...
http://www.hemispheresmagazine.com/three/2004/acadiana.htmI will share several other places to add to the travel agenda as well on a future newsletter but just wanted to share the link for now.If you like this article check out the links on the left side of the page.... they did a bunch of travel articles you can check out on the web.
Mr. Cheapo .. . Free Information CallsMitchThank's to a good tip from Mitch you can call information for free if you dial 1-800-sandiego. You have to listen to a short add and the information call is limited to 5 minutes but who cares... it's FREEEEE. Thanks Mitch !
Mr. Cheapo Tip-o-the-week Tour-de-San Diego...Here is the Mr. Cheapo tour-de-sandiego...
1. Torrey Pines State Beach (just north of the Torrey Pines golf course). Just park along the ocean and there is no parking fee or if your feeling rich pay the $5 to park in the parking lot.
2. Torrey Pines Glider Port, it's free... across from UCSD, on a nice windy day you can swing up there and watch the gliders take off and land from 800 feet above the beach. If your feeling voyeuristic bring some binoculars and look down upon blacks beach where 90 of the nude folks are men and the 10% of the gals should not be nude ;)
3. La Jolla Shores, stroll around town to see how the other half lives, then drive along the beach and stop and check out the groups of Sea Lions at the Childrens Pool Beach
4. Since your in La Jolla drive up to Mt. Soledad to get a great view of the area
5. Head south to Pacific Beach, if it's in the morning make sure and have breakfast at Kono's where Garnet Ave meets the ocean. Sit out on the deck overlooking the ocean, get the potato, egg, bacon, peppers combo plate (can't remember the exact name) and split it with who ever you brought with you... very large portions!
6. Head south to Point Loma, drive through Ocean Beach and head out to Cabrillo National Monument. $5/car to get in the gate but it's worth it!. Drive down to the tide pool area just before driving into the park on your right side.
7. Horton Plaza, Gaslamp area, ... Old Town... at Horton plaza park in the parking lot, go down to the bottom of the plaza and there is a drug store, buy some gum or something cheap and get your parking ticket stamped for free.. it gives you a couple hours "free" parking.
8. Sea Port Village.. Hyatt .. go up to the top of the Hyatt and check out the view from the bar... it's free during the day. On the walls as your going in the bar check out the great old black & white pictures of San Diego from years ago
9. Balboa Park
10. Hotel Del .. just stroll in and check out the place.. wander through the hotel to the beach area in the back.
11. Cowels Mountian.. you probably eat enough junk food by now so drive over to Cowels Mountain and work off the calories by taking a walk up to the top to check out the views. I am sure there are many other places to check out but that was a good start for Mr. Cheapo ;)
Pictures from Bon Temp's 2nd Saturday DanceT-BroussardMr. T & Band had us in zydeco heaven last night at the clubs dance in balboa park. Great dance floor and the folks who did the decorations did a great job for the ambiance ! Here are a few pictures from the night... wish I would have taken more !!!
http://community.webshots.com/album/198313544LabuihSunday Octoberfest (this Sunday the 3rd)A few folks are meeting up at the Octoberfest in El Cajon Sunday at about 3pmAnyone who is interested in checking it out we will be inside the main area at one of the tables where folks eat drink and be merry, it's not that big so we will easily find each other. We went last year and this Octoberfest is much more "the real thing" compared to the LaMesa or others.... LaMesa's is better for shopping at booths if that's what your interested in... hell... visit both of them as they are very close to each other... This festival is selected as one of the top 5 neighborhood festivals in San Diego "Sign-On San Diego".Directions are listed in the last paragraph of this email... Listed below are all the details from there web page as well as a link with a flyer about the event...
